Weekly Devotion – Serve the Lord

Joshua 24:15 “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

There are at least 91 instances in the bible referencing, “serve the Lord” and Joshua 24:15 is my favorite. In the different ways I have come to serve the Lord, I learned something very important in the last few years. It really is so simple to serve the Lord and should be a source of great joy. If serving the Lord reaches the point where it feels like work, it’s likely your focus has shifted inward rather than outward! When that happens, stop and redirect your focus back to Lord and the mission you are on. God has equipped each and every one of you with a number of tools to be a great servant including listening, empathy, awareness, healing, foresight, community building and commitment to the growth of others. It is with those tools that we are truly the hands and feet doing God’s work in the world!

Good and gracious God, thank you for all the servant hearts that we are blessed with through Via de Cristo. Guide us to be your hands and feet and strengthen all of us in this house so that we may continue to serve you!  Amen.
